This category is divided into two broad groups, the first of which is protection against cuts and slashing actions. The second group is high abrasion-resistant fabrics, which are particularly good for use in rugged environments. Flame resistance and heat and flame protection are related, but they are not synonymous. From the fundamental thermal and burning behavior of the fabric, to the intensity of the ignition source, the oxygen supply to time of ignition, rate of burning, and heat release after exposure to an ignitingsource are all keys to define the extent of a fire hazard and its corresponding protection materials.By classifying our fabrics according to the limiting oxygen index (LOI) and maximum continuous-use temperatures, we provide guidelines to help our clients choose their target applications.
